HISTORICAL WESTERHAM AND BRASTED

Historical Westerham and Brasted takes you back beyond Domesday to a time when the Cantii tribe occupied what is now the Squerryes Estate, and later the invading Jutes who established their settlement at Westerham.

The picturesque market town that prevailed for centuries from the time of William the Conqueror to the Second World War is brought to life with the use of old photographs, maps, paintings and rare archive film with special emphasis on such renowned local residents as General James Wolfe and Sir Winston Churchill.

The stunning settings and magnificent interiors of Squerryes Court, Quebec House, Combe Bank and Chartwell feature prominently, and an excursion on the 'Westerham Flyer' takes the viewer to neighbouring Brasted and another opportunity to glimpse life in an earlier time.
